One of South India's leading cellular service providers wanted to upgrade its outdated messaging platform to a leading edge groupware and collaboration solution. Being a heavy user of email, the organization wanted to ensure a smooth transition that would be transparent to its end users.
In order to accomplish a smooth migration, the new solution was deployed simultaneously on fresh hardware, and then connectivity between both systems was established to transfer mailboxes. Setup of the new system involved upgradation of the core operating system also. The second step was to migrate the mail clients to the current version, in order to maximize compatibility, as well as to take maximum advantage of the new features. This enabled a host of new features to be provided to the end users, including enhanced functionality for remote access of emails, stability and unlimited mail box size. The mail clients also had to be replaced in order to provide optimum functionality and availability of advanced features. Web and remote access facilities were also provided as a result of the upgrade. The end result was that a smooth transition was achieved with minimal disruption to end users.
